BONNIE AGE 51 =-Some funky DISCO music/some exercise/Living the Low Carb Lifestyle

more updates on my blog : www.bonnie90505@blogspot.com OMG!! I SAID I WAS 52?? I FORGOT MY AGE… I AM 51, but younger every minute that goes by I was motivated by my last H4H update, because I said my bum knee was preventing me from exercising. I played a mind over matter and reversed my thoughts about exercising, and I went to the workout room at my apartments, set up my camera for my therapy showing that if I just push a little hard, anything is possible for me. My total workout was approx. 30 minutes I did some editing, and yes I forgot to log calories burned and miles walked/trotted and on the bike, I am guessing about 1mile on the treadmill and 5 miles on the bike. Enjoy the funky disco music, my de-toxing face, and some footage of me back to my daily workout routine without the swimming, which I will do later in the evening. and BEWARE, THERE IS BACON, REAL(low sodium) BACON, TURN AWAY, IF YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND WHAT LOW CARB REALLY IS, PLEASE, RESPECT MY HEALTHY CHOICE I am under my doctors care, and I have blood work done every month for my inflammation, Blood Pressure and over all health. I do not promote or discourage anyone from living the low carb lifestyle, but it is important that you research long before your choose this life style. I also recommend that you have a full check up before starting any diet plan, and your doctor is aware and can monitor you. I recently began taking supplements along with my daily multi vitamin. I would like to share what I take

non-hydrogenated coconut oil for brain energy and help with alzheimers?

Question by euphoric: non-hydrogenated coconut oil for brain energy and help with alzheimers?
Or like extra virgin non-hydrogenated coconut oil..
I read this thing about how the oil has a high MTC oil and provides the brain with ketone bodies or something like that.

Is there other foods or oils that provide that too?

Another thing, how exactly does it work?
If you take more of the oil, will your brain have more energy? Or is there a threshold to the amount that the brain will use?

Any good info is appreciated.
And I will be choosing best answer so please answer!

I have done a ton a research on coconut oil and it was my all time favorite product in my health food store. Generally speaking the general public is SO misinformed about it and as a result think it’s an unhealthy fat. Coconut oil is a medium chain fatty acid or medium chain triglycerides (MCT). Around 50% of these MCT’s are made up of lauric acid, the most important essential fatty acid in building and maintaining the body’s immune system. The only other food source with the same concentrations of lauric acid is breast milk and you will also find it listed as an ingredient in almost all baby formulas. Our bodies use it for fuel immediately and it is never stored as fat. Some of the manufacturers use the term ‘extra virgin’ however it’s just a buzz word used to make their product appear better than others. I can’t find any reference on any of the websites that I frequent addressing this issue, but if you think about that term, it’s typically used for olive oil, which has more than one pressing. Coconut oil goes through only one pressing so the term is pretty much meaningless. Coconut oil is a saturated fat, which means it’s solid at room temperature. It has a very low melting point and can melt to almost clear liquid in the summer months…which by the way doesn’t hurt it at all. Coconut oil is a very shelf stable oil, unlike many other cooking oils out there. It can be stored, unrefrigerated for years and never go rancid. It was the primary oil used in processed foods up until the early 1960′s when…enter stage left, the soybean industry. The soybean industry started a very negative ad campaign to turn consumers against coconut oil as well as the other ‘tropical oils’ such as palm oil or palm kernel oil. The truth is that the tropical oils, including coconut oil, are the healthiest oil choices out there. They promote heart health, lower cholesterol, support proper thyroid function, help normalize blood sugar, help normalize weight, have anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-microbial and anti-protozoal qualities. In addition it is fabulous to use on your skin. I stopped using conventional body care products years ago, and the only other product I use on my skin besides coconut oil is soap. All winter long when everyone else is dry and chapped, I’m smooth and soft. I’ve recommended it to dozens of women to try on their skin and I’ve never had one come back and say they didn’t like it. Coconut oil is the only oil I cook with any more, with some occasional olive oil. You aren’t limited to ‘cooking’ as far as how you can use this oil. I use it in any recipe that calls for butter, margarine, shorting, and even liquid oils…it’s great. I read somewhere that 2-3 tablespoons a day gets you the optimal health benefits, but I know people that do a lot less than that too. I even know people that take it just by the spoonful, but obviously not everyone can do that…I can’t. Some of the way I consume it or know of others taking it; cooking obviously, buttering your toast or baked potato with it. Putting a spoonful in your hot tea, mixing it in hot oatmeal, melting it on hot veggies…get creative with it. There are many different manufacturers out there and I have used both Nutiva and Spectrum brands. I liked Spectrum because the smell and taste were very mild and they offer it in organic. You can usually find refined or unrefined at your health food store. I always recommended the unrefined as it’s less processed. The refined boasts I higher heat tolerance but I’ve used the unrefined in frying and it’s been fine. I have heard a lot of talk about using coconut oil to treat HIV, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, and I’ve also heard about a clinic in the Phillipines that is treating AIDS patients with great success. Until recently I never really had any first hand knowledge of any of these treatments. About six months ago I had a customer come into my store looking for coconut oil and we got to talking. Her parents live in Puerto Rico and they are treating her mother’s Alzheimers with coconut oil and she said they were definately seeing improvement. Since then I’ve heard about a man with Parkinson’s having success using coconut oil. Honestly, I could go on for a long time about this, but let recommend two great web sites where you can get some great information. Try www.coconut-connections.com or www.coconutoil.com. They both offer accurate, up to date information. Dr. Bruce Fife, who hosts one of the sites has researched coconut oil for the majority of his career and has written several great books on coconut oil. Good luck and be well.

Emu Oil – Relief For Skin Problems, Hair Loss, Arthritis Pain, Burns & Bruises

If someone tells you he or she has found an oil that is 100% natural, odour free, nourishes skin, relieves arthritis pain and cures burns & bruises, he/she is talking about emu oil,

Emu is a 6ft tall bird, native to Australia. Oil taken from the fat of this bird has been used by native Australians for several centuries to cure variety of conditions like physical injuries, bruises, swellings, etc.

It is a pain reliever, relieving muscle pain and joint pain. Arthritis patients can find pain relief with application of just 14 days. The active contents of the oil reach deep in the skin and works against inflammations, thereby relieving arthritic pain. The content include linoleic (Omega 6) and linolenic (Omega 3) acids.

It prevents hair loss – alopecia areata. It prevents hair fall, hair split, weak hair, grey hair, early baldness, and psoriasis on the head. For applying on scalp, you need to mix equal parts of emu oil and coconut oil.

Emu oil has the peculiar ability to penetrate all the five epithelial (or skin) layers. This ensures the nutrient content of the oil is deposited deep into the body, with ease.

The pH factor of Emu oil is similar to that of human skin’s, which makes it easier for skin to absorb the nutrients much faster than most ointments. It has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory properties. The antibacterial properties make it useful while treating cuts and bruises. The anti-inflammatory property makes it an efficient treatment for arthritis related pain.

Its effects on skin diseases and hair fall hold much attention among medical research community. People suffering from such conditions like eczema, psoriasis, etc benefit from its use.

It can be the best sunscreen lotion ever made. However, it is natural and no synthetic manufacturing process is involved. It can not only prevent sunburns, but also cure sunburns and other kinds of burns. It is antibacterial and is good to prevent bacterial infection on your skin and on cuts, bruises, etc.

It is moisturizing and good for human skin. It can prevent wrinkling of skin. It can also provide a bit of suppleness to the skin. The biggest benefit is that, it is non-greasy. It acts fast on skin and gets absorbed quickly. It also doesn’t clog pores. For skin care and dermatology treatments, emu oil is a natural alternative that doesn’t have the side effects and inconveniences associated with several dozens of medicines and ointments.

Omega 3 Seed Oil- How Are We Getting So Much Of It?

Omega 3 Seed Oil- How Are We Getting So Much Of It?

It should be no surprise 40% of our trans fat consumption is coming from commercial baked goods which is defined as cakes, cookies, crackers, doughnuts, pies and bread, 8% fried potatoes, 4% shortening and 5% popcorn and chips. The FDA defines trans fats as “From hydrogenated (hardened) oil found in fried foods, commercial baked goods, processed foods, and margarine.” We consume an additional 17% from margarine. Add to that, 21% from animal products and it becomes rather clear, we are swimming in seed oils and fats.

Monosaturated fats from avocado, olive, peanut and canola oils and polyunsaturated oils from seafood, safflower, sunflower, corn and soy may help reduce cholesterol but only if you swap those for saturated fats. The distinction is critical- a replacement has to happen to lower cholesterol. Eliminate the saturated fats which the FDA defines as whole milk, butter, cheese, fatty meats, coconut oil, palm oil and cocoa butter, the main dietary cause of high blood cholesterol, substitute monosaturated fats and you might lower your cholesterol.

Having the lifestyles Americans have today, it is highly unlikely we can significantly change our eating patterns to such an extent we can drastically reduce our seed oil consumption for it’s all around us at every turn. The only feasible way to change the fatty acid cart and tip the scales in favor of fish oil fatty acids is either consume fish everyday or supplement with a high quality, molecularly distilled fatty fish oil- one that is what it purports to be and is refined as it promises it is. All you have to do is prick a capsule and you’ll know.

It is clear in research of our evolution; we were physiologically designed to consume fish, not once in a while, but as a basic staple. Our neighbors in Mediterranean countries, as well as China and Japan know a far better health than Americans as is clearly demonstrated in the statistics of heart disease and depression in those countries compared to America.

The link to cognitive disorders is not just possible, it is real. We are writing an estimated ten million prescriptions every year for antidepressants for kids between the ages of one and 17. That is a staggering amount. Countless research today clearly shows a link in deprivation of essential fatty acids from fish oils in cognitive disorders. A friend of mine’s son suffered severely from ADD. He had been taking Concerta for three years when she began to add a high potency fish oil supplement to his diet. Without stopping the Concerta, within two weeks the change in her son’s behavior was so startling, she slowly weaned him off Concerta. Today, he’s a smart, clear-headed teenager getting good grades again with behavior problems a thing of the past. This begs our attention for our young children. And this is just one of thousands of such testimonies across America.
